Congratulations are in order for Reginald “Flip” Hagood, Mark Magana, Tamara Toles O’Laughlin, and Adrianna Quintero. These four members of the Green Leadership Trust were recognized recently for their contributions to the environmental movement.Flip Hagood, the now-retired Senior Vice-President of The Student Conservation Association, was recognized February 11-14, 2018 at the Corps Network National Conference, The Trail Ahead, with the 2018 Legacy Achievement Award. This award recognizes leaders with 20 or more years of contributions to the Corps movement. Additionally, they must have served in a senior leadership position and have made a significant addition to the movement. Flip was nominated by The Corps staff.Founding President and CEO of GreenLatinos, Mark Magaña, was elected in April to serve as a Member At-Large on the 2018 National Hispanic Leadership Agenda. The NHLA is composed of 46 organizations. It serves to better unite Latinos around the country and to provide the Latino community with a more clear and strong influence in our country’s affairs. Mark will help further the agenda of NHLA and advocate on behalf of the Latino community as a Member At-Large.In April 2018, the Social Justice Mission Scholars at Vermont Law School announced that Tamara Toles O’Laughlin was chosen to be the recipient of the third Social Justice Scholars Alumni Award. Toles O’Laughlin has dedicated 15 years to the environmental justice field, thus demonstrating leadership in social justice by improving environments for underserved communities, therefore making her the ideal recipient. This award was created with the intention of celebrating a Vermont Law School alumnus/a who has demonstrated a deep-rooted commitment to social justice matters.On April 21, 2018 Adrianna Quintero was celebrated as the recipient of the Latino Leadership Award at the Sachamama Green Gala. Sachamama is an environmental organization that works to empower communities to take positive environmental action through Latino leadership. The Gala was a celebration of work from environmental influencers of Latino descent, like Adrianna. Adrianna utilizes diverse partnerships to foster environmental advocacy efforts. She is is Co-Founder and Director of Voces Verdes, a national coalition that connects the Latino community with the government to create action on climate change and clean energy.
