The Goldman Environmental Prize is awarded to individuals that focus on protecting endangered ecosystems and species, combating destructive development projects, promoting sustainability, influencing environmental policies and striving for environmental justice. This prize recognizes individuals who strive to create positive change through sustained and significant efforts to enhance and protect the natural environment.This year’s recipients are Zuzana Caputova a public interest lawyer from Slovakia, Leng Ouch who documented illegal logging in Cambodia, Maxima Acuna a subsistence farmer in Peru, Destiny Watford who pushed back against environmentally-harmful development plans, Luis Jorge Herrera a conservationist from Puerto Rico, and Edward Loure a grassroots activist in Tanzania.To read the accomplishments of these heroic recipients click here
