We seek a Director of Programs, a salaried (exempt) position, who will work closely with and report to the Executive Director to oversee and direct implementation of CHNY’s campaigns and programs. This position requires existing knowledge of the toxics movement or a strong desire to immediately engage in the steep learning curve required to become knowledgeable, and a passion for advocating to protect people and the planet from the harm caused by toxic chemicals.
You will need experience in campaign design, implementation, and management. You must engage in long-range planning while remaining nimble in the face of new opportunities or threats. Our organization is highly collaborative, internally between staff and Board, and externally with a broad range of constituencies. It requires a willingness to take risks, to experiment to identify effective strategies and tactics, and an ability to recognize and grow from mistakes. All members of our staff are involved in fundraising, including this position. You will need to put campaign plans into writing for grant proposals, develop program budgets, and prepare final reports. The Director of Programs will provide clear feedback to other program staff, and frank assessments to the Executive Director.
