The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is an independent national nonprofit that uses science to protect our health, safety, and environment. We are scientists, engineers, economists, activists and everyday people who develop and advocate for innovative, practical solutions to some of our planet’s most pressing problems—from combating global warming and developing sustainable ways to feed, power, and transport ourselves, to fighting misinformation, advancing racial equity, and reducing the threat of nuclear war.
The Clean Transportation Program is looking for an experienced organizer who will help build up a community of experts and activists across the US and work to support and build power with grassroots partners in the pursuit of reduced climate emissions, increased access to mobility for underserved communities, and improved public health. In this role your work will have real, lasting impacts on how transportation policy decisions are made on the national, state, and local levels, and on the development of thoughtful and effective leaders nationwide. The right candidate will be able to foster authentic relationships with frontline communities bearing disproportionate burdens of transportation pollution—primarily Black, LatinX, and Asian-American communities—and will identify and shepherd leaders through their advocacy journey on issues of transit, equitable mobility, and truck and bus electrification.
