For the first time in over two years EGA members will gather in person to explore the role of philanthropy in sustaining an equitable environmental movement.  The Retreat will be held in the Midwest, in Chicago, IL with a virtual offering contemporaneously. The convening is designed to develop member learning and sector accountability in grantmaking.Together, we will explore the future of philanthropy as a resource for a more equitable environmental movement. We are committed to exploring the full complement of membership perspectives. The Retreat agenda includes climate leaders at the state, local, and regional levels, and will showcase a global lens on international governance for people and planet. With an eye on midterm elections and COP27, we will hone in on practices for a healthy democracy for a healthy planet and sustain the momentum of our investments for racial equity as supports for the environment. You will leave with a robust agenda for this decisive decade. We acknowledge that this convening will be a challenge, as the first, ever hybrid gathering of the EGA membership, and our first in-person sessions since February 2020. We look forward to taking the time and space needed to rebuild community with new and long-standing colleagues. Throughout the Retreat, we have plans to reinvigorate you and rekindle your sense of purpose. We are planning for opportunities for embodied practice to support our re-entry, with an emphasis on mindfulness and community restoration time, to accelerate our capacity for action. We look forward to reuniting as an EGA community and are committed to health and safety as a feature of our convening. We commit to holding community standards that limit the spread of COVID-19, including daily on-site testing, relevant masking requirements, and public protocols for gatherings.
