The Ocean Foundation, a DC-based non-profit international community foundation is looking for a Chief Development Officer to join our team!

As the only community foundation for the ocean, The Ocean Foundation raises every dollar we spend and operates without an endowment. The Chief Development Officer will oversee all fundraising, in both the United States and internationally, working with a small development team that includes two staff- a Development Manager and a Donor Management and Gift Processing Associate and reports to the External Relations Director.

The development team is housed within the External Relations Team in order to facilitate dynamic coordination and collaboration with marketing and communications colleagues to maximize integrated digital fundraising opportunities.

The position is responsible for the acquisition and retention of diverse sources of revenue, including (1) individuals, (2) foundations, (3) corporate and (4) government funders to specifically support The Ocean Foundation’s individual Conservation Initiatives, including: (1) Blue Resilience, (2) Plastics, (3) Ocean Acidification and (4) Community Ocean Engagement Global. In addition, this position ultimately oversees fundraising activities for unrestricted general contributions in their supervision of the Development Manager as a direct report.
