Acadia Center seeks an energetic and experienced energy regulatory attorney to play a leadership role advancing Acadia Center’s advocacy efforts to shape and achieve regulatory reforms that advance clean energy, climate, consumer, and energy justice goals.  The Senior Energy Attorney will have a leadership role advancing Acadia Center’s efforts to update the utility business model, create rate structures that advance consumer, climate, clean energy, equity and energy justice goals, and modernize the mandates of state regulatory agencies to promote climate and energy justice goals. The Senior Regulatory Attorney will address issues surrounding energy efficiency resource acquisition, interconnecting and valuing distributed energy resources, the complex politics of winding down the use of fossil fuels, and the potential for reforming transmission and distribution grid planning. The position will focus on representing Acadia Center in PUC interventions and other regulatory proceedings; state and regional policy forums; with partner organizations and coalitions; and with media and members of the public. The impacts of the current energy system on environmental justice communities are central to advocacy in this work. Drafting public comments, educational documents and filings; coalition and partnership engagement; and communicating policy issues with media, the public and donors and foundations are important parts of the job. The ideal candidate is a team player who can pivot to and from tasks easily and can handle multitasking. Full, flex or part time schedules will be considered. Location: Acadia Center offices remain closed due to the pandemic and all work is remote.
