Washington D.C. – Full-Time Application closes on August 15th, 2022 at 12:00pm ET.ABOUT THE POSITIONThe FAS Day One Talent Hub is seeking a fellow for a 1 year term (with potential opportunity to extend) to join the Executive Office of the President (EOP) team within the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). The Fellow will advise the Senior Director for Environmental Justice and the environmental justice team on specific programs, events, and matters; and perform a variety of other duties.WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Coordinates, implements and oversees CEQ feedback on interagency documents that pertain to environmental justice.
  • Maintains the Senior Director for Environmental Justice and Deputy Director’s schedules.
  • Develops and manages briefing materials for the Senior Director for Environmental Justice. Coordinates with CEQ’s environmental justice staff and attendees of meetings to ascertain which issues will be pertinent to each particular meeting, to draft remarks or talking points as needed, and to ensure that the Senior Director has the information needed for each meeting or event on her schedule.
  • Compiles a briefing book, as needed, for the Senior Director for Environmental Justice each work day. The briefing book consists of all of the briefings for each of the next day’s meetings, in addition to recent press articles, internal memos, and relevant background, compiled into an organized and systematic book for the Senior Director for Environmental Justice’s review.
  • Researches issues and develops presentations for the Senior Director for Environmental Justice, including on topics or issues that have recently come to the attention of the Senior Director and for which quick and reliable information is needed as decision-makers begin to convene.
  • Schedules all meetings and briefings for the Senior Director for Environmental Justice. Acts as a liaison between other Government officials to arrange for the Senior Director’s attendance at meetings and coordinates all travel details.
  • Reviews and organizes the Senior Director’s meeting requests and invitations. Confers with CEQ environmental justice staff to select inquiries that will be accepted or declined. Responds to all invitations either by written correspondence or telephone calls. Maintains files for all invitations that have been accepted, declined, or are pending.
  • Plans travel for the Senior Director for Environmental Justice and travels with the Senior Director for Environmental Justice as necessary.
  • Provides logistical support for White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC) and White House Environmental Justice Interagency Council (IAC) including, but not limited to, scheduling and managing responses to policy requests.
  • Provides support, as requested, to environmental justice public engagement efforts, including coordination of stakeholder events, briefings, and other external opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director for Environmental Justice on opportunities to support the CEQ environmental justice team, including strategic planning, team culture, and operational capacity support.
  • Engages with key White House and Federal agency partners in the long-term and short-term implementation of environmental justice in key workstreams under the direction of the Senior Director for Environmental Justice.
  • Recruits, interviews, and selects all interns for the allotment of CEQ environmental justice interns. Manages and supervises interns during tenure at CEQ. Monitors productivity, troubleshoots problems, and maintains communication with the interns. Sets-up regular meetings with interns to garner feedback and provide guidance on their experience and performance.
  • Writes and coordinates correspondence from the Senior Director for Environmental Justice to Cabinet Secretaries, stakeholders, and senior agency officials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
