Green Leadership Trust is a membership organization for People of the Global Majority who serve on the boards of environmental organizations across the United States.
Our members hold positions of significant responsibility across the environmental movement. As board members, they help shape organizational strategy, steward resources, support and hold executive leadership accountable, and make decisions that influence the direction of the organizations they serve. GLT brings these leaders together to strengthen their governance practice, build community, and use their collective leadership to help shape the future of the environmental movement.
Membership Eligibility
GLT membership is open to People of the Global Majority who currently serve on the board of a U.S.-based environmental, climate, conservation, or environmental justice organization.
Our members serve organizations of different sizes, issue areas, and geographies and bring a wide range of professional and lived experience to their board service. They share a commitment to building a stronger and more equitable environmental movement, with leadership that reflects the communities most impacted by environmental challenges.
What Membership Offers
GLT provides a community of support for PGM leaders serving in environmental governance.
Members have access to peer learning and leadership development, governance resources, member gatherings and programs, and opportunities to participate in GLT committees and initiatives.
Just as importantly, GLT creates space for members to build relationships with one another and have candid conversations about the opportunities and challenges of board service. Members share knowledge, resources, and strategies that help them lead more effectively within their organizations and exercise greater collective influence across the environmental movement.
